About Abby

Lifelong Horse Trainer

I have had a strong passion for horses from an early age. Growing up on Orcas Island I participated in the local horse 4-H program from 11 to 18. I had the opportunity to work with a local trainer and get on a variety of horses from quarter horses and Arabs to Tennessee walking horses and Icelandic ponies.

After high school I attended Heartland Horseshoeing School in Missouri with the goal of being able to provide my horses with quality foot care no matter where life took us. From there I worked in the horse and cattle industry from working ranches to packaging hunters into the mountains.

From Florida to the Pacific Northwest

I had the opportunity to expand my skills by traveling to Florida to groom for an Olympic hopeful trying for a spot on the U.S. dressage team. Upon returning to the Pacific Northwest and the working ranches I dug into starting unhandled colts and a few mustangs.

In August of 2021 I returned to my hometown of Eastsound, Washington and opened Offshore Equine. I have a great passion for quality care and am planning to open the barn up to retirement boarding, western performance horses, and absentee/offseason boarding in the coming months.

I also offer training, colt starting, halter breaking, consignment and hauling in the Islands and beyond. Whether you're looking for expert training, quality boarding, or personalized equine care, Offshore Equine is here to serve you and your horse.
